Figma UX and UI of the platform
Description
The purpose of this project was to give a fresh graphical makeover to the myHR and myLearning sections of Italgas's internal employee platform.
Process
Analyzing DESI, Italgas Design System
Italgas has a structured and well-crafted design system. The main challenge was that it was built in Sketch, not Figma, so I first studied it thoroughly to grasp its core principles and design choices. Then I manually converted the elements we needed, since the required deliverable had to be in Figma.
Wireframes
Once I had studied the design system, I started working on the wireframes. It may seem counterintuitive to some, but following this order allowed us to speed up certain design decisions, since they had already been established during the design system’s development.
UI
For the UX phase, and especially for the UI work, I frequently collaborated with Italgas's internal Design Lead, who had kicked off the project with me. Overall, we aimed to stick closely to the existing design system without changes, though there were a few exceptions, some new components, and even certain modifications that were later integrated and officially added to the design system.
Delivery
The work was long and laborious but extremely rewarding. I collaborated with various people on this project, sparking very stimulating exchanges of ideas and opinions.
