Instagram posts design made in Figma Buzz
Description
When BOB came to me with the idea of creating a new template for their Instagram page, I couldn’t say no. The goal was to design a simple, easily reusable template that still had character and personality.
Process
The Instagram channel posts three times a week, which means that writing, research, and design can take quite a bit of time for each post. The purpose of the template is to make the posts visually appealing while keeping the process efficient. To achieve that, we implemented a few clever design solutions.
First of all, the design was created to include pages without text, helping to reduce the amount of written content needed. Similarly, some layouts were designed without images, since not every topic comes with plenty of high-quality visuals. As a result, the template mainly includes two key images, one half-sized image for lower-resolution or landscape versions, and two “newspaper clipping” style images.
The choice of the “newspaper clipping” style was driven not only by aesthetic reasons but also by two very practical ones:
Cutting out images in this rough, collage-like way is faster and allows for more flexibility.
Since many of these images are low-resolution (even after upscaling), applying a halftone effect helps mask the quality issues and makes them appear more polished.
